VW x ITV Concept work
Agency // Adam & Eve DDB
Role // Designer / Artworker
I was briefed in by Adam&Eve DDB to create digital banners and MPU’s for Volkswagen UK to be displayed on the ITV Hub website sponsoring ITV Movies. I was given mood boards with selected art directions to follow, and also given scamps to work from.
I was given renders of the cars to choose from, and the Volkswagen Logo. Everything else in these artworks were sourced elsewhere and manipulated to suit the art direction.
The challenge.
We received feedback from the client informing us that they weren’t happy with the scamps as the focus was not on the cars being advertised and more so on the overall movie theme. With this in mind, I began testing out different ways we could stick to the “movie theme”, following the given art direction and still keeping the cars as the main focus.
Once given these moods boards I had a solid idea of the colour pallet to use, the effects to use to bring the artwork to life, such as outer glows, transparent mists and overlays, different colour blends to experiment with etc, to create the over all look requested.
The above, and below are the final exports approved by the design and creative department.
Unfortunately, I crafted these digital scamps so much that they ended up looking like a final outcome. I was made aware that the budget on this project had been cut, and there-for hiring an illustrator may have caused us to go over budget. In these scamps, I tried to create a finalised look and an illustrative look to save the client money on the budget.
